About the Role

A SEN specialist, also known as a Special Educational Needs specialist, plays a crucial role in supporting children with diverse learning needs. Their responsibilities encompass a wide range of activities, aiming to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students. Here's a breakdown of their key roles:

- Use various assessment tools and observations to identify students who may require additional support.
- Develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), work with parents, teachers, and other professionals to create personalized learning plans tailored to each student's unique needs.
- Monitor student progress by tracking students' progress regularly and adjust IEPs as needed to ensure they are meeting their goals.
- Provide direct instruction and deliver specialized instruction in areas where students struggle, such as reading, writing, math, or social skills.
- Work closely with teachers to provide support and guidance on how to best meet the needs of students with SEN.
- Conduct workshops and provide professional development opportunities to help educators understand and support students with diverse learning needs.
Advocacy and Collaboration:
- Act as a voice for students with SEN, ensuring their needs are met and they have access to appropriate resources.
- Maintain open communication with parents, keeping them informed about their child's progress and providing guidance and support.
- Collaborate with other professionals such as therapists, counselors, and other specialists to provide a comprehensive and coordinated approach to supporting students with SEN.
- Develop and implement school-wide policies and procedures.
- Contribute to creating an inclusive school environment that supports all students.
- Conduct research and stay current on best practices.
- Stay informed about the latest research and best practices in SEN education.

Requirements

  • Preferred Experience: Prior experience in Early Childhood Education, Social Work, Special Education (SEN), or tutoring is highly preferred.

  • Welcome to Apply: Recent graduates and individuals returning to the workforce are encouraged to apply.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and operation of a photocopier is required.

  • Language Proficiency: Fluency in Chinese and English input methods is necessary.
