About the Role

A Programme Officer or Project Officer plays a pivotal role in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of projects and programs that align with the organization’s mission and objectives. This position typically involves greater responsibility and a higher level of strategic involvement compared to a Project Assistant. Here’s an overview of their key responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities:
1. Collaborate with stakeholders to conceptualize and design programs that address social issues and meet the needs of the community.
2. Contribute to the development of project proposals and strategic plans, ensuring alignment with the social enterprise’s mission and goals.
3. Assist in preparing project budgets, monitoring expenditures, and ensuring financial accountability.
4. Manage the day-to-day operations of projects, ensuring they are executed on time, within scope, and within budget.
5. Supervise and coordinate the work of project staff, volunteers, and partners, providing guidance and support as needed.
6. Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including community organizations, funders, and beneficiaries.
7. Develop and implement monitoring and evaluation frameworks to assess project outcomes and impact.
8. Collect and analyze data related to project performance, providing regular reports to management and stakeholders.
9. Identify areas for improvement and make recommendations based on evaluation findings.
10. Create comprehensive reports on project progress, outcomes, and challenges for internal and external stakeholders.
11. Develop communication strategies to promote project results and engage the community, including creating written materials and presentations.
12. Staff Development: Provide training and support to project staff and volunteers to enhance their skills and effectiveness.
13. Identify and develop resources, tools, and materials to support project implementation and capacity building.
14. Advocate for the social enterprise’s mission and programs within the community and among stakeholders.
15. Attend events and meetings to represent the organization and build networks that support project goals.

Requirements

Education:

  • A bachelor’s degree in social sciences, business management, project management, community development, or a related field is typically required. A master’s degree may be preferred.


Experience:

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in project management, program development, or related roles, ideally within a social enterprise or nonprofit environment.


Skills:

  • Self-motivated

  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.

  • Proficiency in project management software and tools.

  • Analytical skills for monitoring and evaluating program effectiveness.
